MTV UK has revealed that one of the UK’s hottest new talents, Lianne La Havas, will support global superstar and 14 time Grammy winner Alicia Keys at MTV Crashes Manchester on Monday, September 24th, at Manchester Cathedral.

Created in collaboration with Manchester City CouncilMTV Crashes Manchester is a free, ticketed live music event celebrating Manchester’s long musical heritage and contribution to UK youth culture. The event will be showcased on MTV around the world as part of MTV’s World Stage – a global series that brings multi-genre talent to international audiences through MTV’s worldwide network.

Lianne La Havas, who was nominated as an MTV Brand New for 2012 artist earlier this year, has won huge critical acclaim for her debut album ‘Is Your Love Big Enough?’. Now firmly established as one of the UK’s most exciting new talents, Lianne continues to garner major accolades, most recently being recognized in last week’s Mercury Music Prize nominations.

“I have always been a big fan of Alicia and so it’s going to be an absolute blast to play alongside her.” said Lianne La Havas.

Lianne will join headliner, acclaimed musical artist, best-selling author, actress, entrepreneur and philanthropist serving as a Global Ambassador and co-founder of the Keep a Child Alive charity, Alicia Keys, at the event. Alicia will exclusively be performing tracks from upcoming new album Girl on Fire (set for release on 27 November), in addition to smash hits from her multi-award winning career which started with acclaimed debut album ‘songs in A-minor’.

In order to ensure that as many music fans as possible have the chance to see Alicia Keys and Lianne La Havas perform live at the event, MTV UK & Manchester City Council will be showing the event, free-of-charge, on a large outdoor screen at the Cathedral Gardens from 6pm on Monday 24 September.   Performances will be shown from 8pm.

MTV Crashes Manchester continues MTV’s long history of partnering with local tourist boards to create iconic live music events specifically for local fans and international music lovers. From the EMAs in Edinburgh in 2003, to the Isle of MTV Malta Special, to Belfast’s MTV Presents Titanic Sounds, over the years the network has entertained hundreds of thousands of music fans and delivered some of the most memorable local live events of the last decade.
