September: An exciting month musically speaking

Sep 14, 2012

The alternative music scene is always a very active one when it comes to new and emerging artists, and now is a particularly exciting time for fans of this broad musical genre. This month has seen and will continue to see the release of a number of very exciting new albums from emerging and successful artists, which means now would be a great time to check out some new releases. So when you get a chance, pick out an album, grab a glass of your favourite M&S Wine, and settle down to enjoy some exciting new music! Here are a few specific albums to consider this month.

    • Night Visions‘ – The latest album from the curiously named but popular indie/alternative rock band Imagine Dragons has just been released, and so far reaction has been very positive. Imagine Dragons is still relatively new to the scene, but the considerable success of their first hit single “It’s Time” propelled them to a great deal of popularity, which has led to a lot of excitement over the release of Night Visions. Soon after its release on September fourth, the album reached the #1 spot on iTunes album sales, as people enjoy the fresh, upbeat sound of this exciting band.
    • Coexist‘ – The second major album from English indie band The XX has just been released to the delight of fans all over the world. The XX have a unique alternative style featuring somewhat dark, slow electronic melodies with occasionally sparse vocals. However, they are very popular among certain audiences, and many of their top tracks have proven particularly appealing for use on soundtracks and things of that nature. The album ‘Coexist‘ will further expose The XX to fans, and should propel them to even higher popularity as they stick to their own unique sound.
    • Battle Born‘ – The fourth studio album from popular Las Vegas alternative band The Killers has already been released in the UK and is scheduled for release in the United States later this month. This is something of an unexpected album, as the band announced a hiatus fairly recently, following their 2010 tour. While Killers fans enjoyed the solo work of lead man Brandon Flowers in the meantime, the coming of a fourth studio album only two years after the announcement of a hiatus is a pleasant surprise. Thus far reaction to the album has been positive, and it seems that ‘Battle Born‘ features much of the same enjoyable sound people have come to expect from this unique and talented band.
