Muse will perform at the Olympic Games closing ceremony

Aug 8, 2012

Muse confirmed to NME that they will be performing at the closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympic Games. Drummer Don Howard said:

“I’m happy with the song. It’s a proper Muse song. It’s not something we just did for the Olympics. They sowed a seed by asking us to do some music but then five months went by. We showed them a few songs when they asked us about [playing the] closing ceremony and they loved it. It represented the enormous competition of what the Olympics is”.

The soundtrack of the closing ceremony will be available as soon as the event finishes. Meanwhile, you can take a look at the official soundtrackIsles of Wonder‘ (now available) from the opening ceremony where Arctic Monkeys, Alex Trimble and Paul McCartney participated.

Until today, the only confirmed performers for the closing ceremony include Muse, Spice Girls, George Michael, and Ed Sheeran. Rumors say that other performers include Blur, Coldplay, The Who, and Take That. I guess we will have to wait.
